A psychologist explains what it means when a person wears a lot of red clothing.

Color psychology studies the impact colors have on the emotions and behavior of the person wearing it and the people who perceive it . This time, the chosen color palette is red. Iconic in cinema, Marilyn Monroe's famous red dress in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' and Audrey Hepburn's dress as she walked down the stairs in 'Funny Face' are still remembered. They have even been the leitmotif of a film, such as 'The Woman in the Red Dress'.
It has negative connotations , such as danger or death. The truth is that its symbolism is broad. Lara Ferreiro, a psychology expert, points out that the color red is one of her favorites. "It represents heat, flame, or strength, and is associated with people with great motivation and courage. It's a very powerful color that conveys determination, love, and security, although it's also associated with tension or blood: Those who wear red convey security and strength , and major brands use it," she says.
It was not for nothing that it was the color par excellence of designer Valentino. The well-known Valentino red attracted all eyes. The designer himself went so far as to say that the possibilities of red are endless . Spanish psychologist Jonathan García-Allen explains in 'Clarín' that red, in both humans and animals, increases heart rate, produces adrenaline , stimulates appetite, and elevates energy levels, excitement, and enthusiasm. And those who wear it have great drive, are adventurous, and possess a strong character that makes them good leaders.
Ferreiro also points out that this shade looks good from a distance. "Those who wear red tend to wear it mainly on weekends , specifically Fridays and Saturdays. During the week, we wear more neutral colors to work," she says.
He explains that it's typically used by independent, autonomous, and perhaps slightly narcissistic people . And for Ferreiro, those who don't use it in their lives are people who want to go unnoticed: "I call them 'turtle people' because they're less strong, tend to have physical complexes, and like to go more unnoticed. Since red is also associated with sex, we could say they're not passionate types and don't like eroticism or sensuality."
Other traits of those who like to wear red are that they are proactive and persevering individuals. "On the other hand, wearing red also gives them a sense of power and control , which is ideal for moments when they want to project confidence, such as at a formal dinner, when closing a new business deal, or when leading a meeting," says García-Allen. That said, what color will you choose for your next important meeting?
