The summer surge in Covid-19 cases has increased sales of flu medications by 9%.

Sales of flu and cold products increased by 2% in units and 9% in value this August, compared to the same period last year, according to the Pharmalive Report on trends in Spanish pharmacies prepared by Alliance Healthcare.
This increase responds to the population's need to relieve associated symptoms such as fever, congestion, or general malaise , given the increased circulation of the virus during the summer months. Furthermore, the surge in COVID-19 infections has generated greater interest among consumers in prevention, reinforcing their first-aid kits with flu-fighting products to combat possible colds and flu-like symptoms.
Sales of smoking cessation products also experienced growth of 0.2% in units and 3% in value , driven by the desire to take advantage of the holiday period to initiate healthy habits, improve routines, and promote positive lifestyle changes.
Hair care in summerThe high temperatures and intense sun exposure in August have affected hair health, causing increased dryness and brittleness. Faced with this situation, many people are taking advantage of this time to repair damaged hair and prepare it for returning to their routine, turning to hair products that nourish, strengthen, and provide vitality from within.
This trend is reflected in a 0.5% increase in units and a 3% increase in hair product values compared to August 2024. Nutricosmetic hair products designed to provide vitality and improve hair density stand out, registering a 39% increase.
