While the arrival of summer brings with it many positive aspects, such as increasing the frequency of outdoor activities , it doesn't come without certain setbacks that make our daily lives a little less bearable. High temperatures are a difficult-to-avoid nuisance at certain times of the day.
One of the most troublesome tasks is, without a doubt, getting to sleep. Many people decide to open their windows at bedtime and keep them open until the next morning. Although it may be the solution to cool off on the hottest nights, it can put our health at risk.

This is according to several experts , such as Dr. Miguel Lanaspa , a pediatrician at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona, who, in one of his most recent articles, asserts that exposure to outside noise that enters our homes through the window during sleep can be harmful to our bodies, preventing us from enjoying a full and restful sleep.
Close the windows in the cityThe expert was clear about sleeping with the window open , listening to any outside noise. "It fragments sleep, breaks the cycle, and deprives the body of the benefits of the deeper stages, such as lower blood pressure, serotonin production , and the consolidation of memories from the previous day," he mentions in the article.

Constant exposure to noise during sleep deteriorates sleep hygiene , leading to increased stress , irritability in children, and depression or dysthymia in adults , according to Lanaspa's writing. Cities are home to a high concentration of noise pollution that affects the quality of life of the people who live in them.
The expert himself made a comparison in which he found a connection between the background noise of cities and the annoying sound that an old air conditioning unit might emit . Sounds above 65 decibels are perceived as a threat by our bodies, causing them to deteriorate over time.
