Ryanair strike over the August bank holiday: dates, airports, and which flights are affected

August is undoubtedly one of the busiest months at Spanish airports . Thousands of travelers take advantage of the long weekend, vacations, and good weather to travel both domestically and internationally. However, this year, many could see their plans altered by the Ryanair strike, which primarily affects ground services managed by Azul Handling. In the middle of peak season, the call for protests could become another headache for passengers.
The labor protest begins unavoidably on the long weekend, August 15, 2025, and will continue indefinitely until December 31, unless an agreement is reached with the company.
The initial dates are August 15, 16, and 17 , coinciding with the Feast of the Assumption. But the strike won't end there, as it will continue every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until the end of the year .
In total, we are talking about 76 possible days of partial strikes , each organized into three key time slots .
-
From 05.00 to 09.00
-
From 12:00 to 15:00
-
From 9:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
These are precisely the busiest airport zones , which increases the possibility of incidents.
The strike has a direct impact on all bases where Azul Handling operates for Ryanair in Spain.

On the other hand, those airports where Ryanair does not have a fixed base and handling is not provided by Azul, such as Asturias, Menorca, Gran Canaria, Almería, Murcia, Vigo, Vitoria or Zaragoza , will not be affected .
Ryanair has downplayed the impact of the stoppages , stating that it does not anticipate a massive disruption to its operations. However, the reality is that staff shortages for the most essential tasks could cause flight disruptions resulting in occasional delays or cancellations .
If a flight changes, the airline will notify the passenger via the email address linked to the reservation. Additionally, direct tracking is available through the "Travel updates" section of the Ryanair website, which is updated continuously. There, travelers can enter information such as the origin and destination, the flight number, and even the airline (Ryanair, Ryanair UK, Air Malta, Buzz, or Lauda Europe), along with the scheduled date, to see the status of the operation in real time .
