Mexicans rank third in home purchases in the US with more than $4.4 billion.

With more than $4.4 billion invested between April 2024 and March 2025, Mexicans ranked third among foreign homebuyers in the United States, behind only Chinese and Canadian citizens, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported.
The average price of these properties rose 52.4% in one year, from $462,700 to $705,300. Furthermore, 49% of purchases were paid in cash, and 16% exceeded $1 million, doubling the proportion recorded the previous year.
According to Yuval Golan, founder of the Waltz platform, the depreciation of the peso against the dollar has prompted many Mexicans to diversify their assets in the U.S. real estate market.
In total, Mexicans purchased 6,200 homes during this period, making them the second-highest foreign group in terms of average purchase price, behind only the Chinese ($1,168,800).
Texas accounted for 40% of the acquisitions, followed by California (17%), Arizona (10%), and states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, and Missouri, with 5% each. South Carolina and Illinois accounted for 2%.
The NAR notes that the U.S. housing market is experiencing record prices due to a shortage of supply. Lawrence Yun, the association's chief economist, warned that housing construction continues to fall short of population growth.
