Danilo Medina defends Magin Diaz's conditions

Former President Danilo Medina praised the appointment of Magín J. Díaz as the new Minister of Finance and highlighted his career as a technocrat serving various Dominican governments over the past two decades.
"Mr. Magín Díaz has no ties to the Dominican Republic's Popular Party . Magín is a technocrat in the country. All the governments that have passed through the state have taken him into account," Medina said when asked by reporters.
Medina recalled that Díaz began his public career in the Hipólito Mejía administration, continued under Leonel Fernández , and was later appointed to the top post during his own administration. "Now the PRM has won me over by awarding me the Ministry of Finance ," he noted in a relaxed tone.
"He has been in all four of the country's administrations , from 2000 to the present ," the former president emphasized.
Magín Díaz sworn in as Minister of FinanceLast Wednesday, the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña , swore in Magín J. Díaz as the new Minister of Finance , after being appointed by President Luis Abinader through decree 386-25 .
Díaz takes over the position, replacing José Manuel (Jochi) Vicente , who resigned from the position.
During the inauguration ceremony, Magín Díaz expressed his commitment to working responsibly and with dedication to strengthen the country's economic stability .
For his part, the outgoing minister expressed his support for the new administration. "I'm sure the Ministry of Finance is in good hands," said Jochi Vicente , highlighting his successor's professional career.
A technocrat with a long careerMagín J. Díaz has more than 20 years of experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policies, both nationally and internationally.
At the local level, he served as Undersecretary of Finance during the Hipólito Mejía administration and held key positions in the Ministry of Finance , including Deputy Minister of Fiscal Policy and Public Credit.
In 2016 he was appointed Director General of Internal Revenue ( DGII ), a position he held during the administration of Danilo Medina .
