Alarming: Raising a child in Argentina costs more than $500,000 per month, according to INDEC

The National Institute of Statistics and Census revealed the worrying figure for the child-rearing basket in June. For a baby, the cost was $411,201.
The monthly valuation of the childcare basket for early childhood, childhood and adolescence yielded figures ranging from $411,000 to $517,000 , according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census ( INDEC ).
The INDEC study presents data corresponding to childcare baskets for children between 0 and 12 years of age and includes both the monthly cost of acquiring the goods and the cost of care, which arises from the valuation of the time required for said activity.

For children under one year old, the June childcare basket totaled $411,201 , comprising $126,412 for goods and services and $284,788 for childcare expenses. Compared to May, the basket for children under one year old increased by 0.14% monthly.
For children ages 1 to 3 , the total cost was $488,700: $163,228 for goods and services, and $325,473 for childcare costs. This increased by 0.16% compared to the May basket.
For children aged 4 to 5 , the cost remained comparable to that of an infant, closing at $411,310. This figure was comprised of $207,890 in goods and services costs and $203,420 in childcare costs. Monthly, it increased by 0.24% compared to May.
Finally, the basket for older children (ages 6 to 12) closed at $517,364: of that total, $257,888 was spent on goods and services and $259,476 on childcare. Compared to May, it increased by the same amount as the basket for 4- and 5-year-olds: 0.24% monthly.
