According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), more than 100,000 people die annually in the region as a result of work-related situations or illnesses, highlighting the growing need to develop strategies to address high-risk events.
Furthermore, the constant incorporation of new technologies into companies' production processes requires ongoing updates to safety protocols and more specialized staff training.
In this regard, the training will consist of 40-hour theoretical and practical modules , which include the use of full-scale simulators and controlled scenarios that recreate highly demanding conditions.
On this occasion, several professionals from different Latin American cities are expected to participate in the preparation process, as they will receive dual international certification from SACS Group and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

Carolina López Pérez, technical manager for Latin America at SACS Group, told El Tiempo that "any company with a production process that wants to become more sustainable can access the programs."
“It's not enough to simply react to an emergency. It requires technical training, planning, and leadership to execute accurately under extreme conditions. That's the heart of a truly effective safety culture,” López added, emphasizing that the goal of the training is for employees to arrive at their companies with practical tools to respond under pressure.

He also explained that SACS Group's primary focus is on industrial incidents, which is why it believes it is necessary to "train professionals to prevent these events from occurring and to safeguard the lives of not only employees but also all the stakeholders involved."
According to Carolina, this type of training will allow people to learn to identify risks, study their impact, both qualitatively and quantitatively, and what's required to actively respond in an emergency.
Those who wish to register for the event, which will take place between July and November in Cartagena, or to learn more about dates, content, and requirements, can visit the official SACS Group website.
