José Tomás: fifty years of the great living legend of bullfighting

Half a century of life, more than thirty years of bullfighting experience, and a personality that transcends the bullring: José Tomás is considered one of the most unique figures in contemporary bullfighting. His classic, daring style , combined with a life marked by silence and restraint, have made him a legend.

The last great bullfighting legend turns fifty, and the book "José Tomás. 50 Years" celebrates the anniversary with a visual tour of the most memorable moments in the career of one of the greatest figures. More than 130 images by German photographer Anya Bartels-Suermondt, who has been accompanying the bullfighter in bullrings in Spain, France, and America for over two decades, capture both the grandeur of his performances and the moments of silence and vulnerability.

Along with the photographs, the volume brings together texts by authors, artists, and friends such as Joaquín Sabina, Alberto García-Alix, Vicente Amigo, Lita Cabellut, Vicente del Bosque, and Luis Pérez-Oramas, who offer a collective portrait of the figure and the man.

A book that captures half a century of the life of a unique bullfighter in images and words, allowing us to experience once again the emotion that José Tomás inspires both inside and outside the ring. A special 200-page, hardcover edition with a jacket and large format (24 x 31 cm), designed to preserve and revive the intensity of a unique figure.
