British author JK Rowling , creator of Harry Potter , has defended herself against criticism from "a man" she previously worked with about her beliefs on gender , something that social media interpreted as a veiled response to the director of the first two films in the series, Chris Columbus.

"As another man who has worked with me expresses sadness at my beliefs about gender and sex, I thought it would be helpful to compile a list to keep handy," Rowling begins her post on X, listing questions related to biological sex , reserved spaces for women, and freedom of expression, among other topics.

"More of the same"

Columbus, 66, recently argued on the podcast "The Rest is Entertainment" that HBO's new Harry Potter television series—which is already being filmed in London—is "more of the same" and called Rowling's stance on transgender people "very sad."

The writer has been accused of transphobia on several occasions for her opinions and has had public confrontations with actors from the film series such as Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), who questioned her positions on the issue.

"Which of the following do you think makes the actors and directors feel so bad that they are not involved in HBO's Harry Potter reboot?" Rowling wrote in her post, before rattling off a list of rhetorical questions.

"Is it my belief that women and girls should have their own changing rooms and public restrooms?" or " that women shouldn't be harassed, stalked, or fired for refusing to pretend that humans can change sex? "

He also questions whether "mental health support should be provided to children with disabilities, especially those who are gay, autistic, and have suffered trauma, rather than irreversible surgeries and drug treatments based on no evidence of benefit ."

Or "that heterosexual male fetishists who cross-dress are not actually oppressed, but rather have a blast exploiting gender identity ideology," among other questions, a total of 13, also on freedom of expression and politics .

"Let me know your opinion," concludes the writer's message . She has been harshly criticized in the past, both on social media and by cultural figures, for her stance on transgender people and her criticism of laws on the matter.
