The Bogotá Metro is one of the city's most important projects underway . Its construction represents a structural response to the challenges of mobility, urban modernization, and environmental sustainability in Colombia's capital. Many are wondering how fast this new service will be and how far it will travel.

According to information provided by the Bogotá Mayor's Office , "the first Bogotá Metro line will have 16 stations running from the Portal de las Américas to 72nd Street, taking users on this journey in just 27 minutes. This will save users 310,000 hours each day." Additionally, 10 of these 16 stations will have modal integration with TransMilenio and will transport 990,000 passengers daily: 656,000 boardings on the metro line and 334,000 boardings per day on the feeder trunk lines.

"The trains will be 100% electric, will be 148 meters long, have 6 cars , will have a speed of 41 km/hour and will carry 64,800 passengers per hour/direction ," he emphasizes.

The stations will be located on the side of the building, located within commercial buildings, and will be accessed via elevated bridges to the Bogotá Metro. They are surrounded by commercial and educational areas, and their construction will renew the public space.
