French actor Gérard Depardieu was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Without Gérard Depardieu 's presence, the Paris Criminal Court has found the French actor guilty of two sexual assaults committed during a film shoot in 2021, in the actor's first trial for sexual crimes, Efe reports. Depardieu has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, with no terms to be served.

The 76-year-old actor has been convicted of groping a 54-year-old decorator during the filming of "Les Volets Verts" ("The Green Shutters"). The court also imposed a two-year ban and ordered him to register as a sex offender, as requested by the Prosecutor's Office.

The court will issue a verdict regarding another plaintiff and is expected to issue a new ruling this Tuesday.
