Yemeni Houthis resume offensive against Israel after truce with Iran

Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility this Saturday, June 28 , for launching a ballistic missile at a "strategic target" in the southern Israeli town of Beersheba. The Israeli military said the attack was intercepted without causing any damage or casualties.
The insurgents' military spokesman, Yahya Sarea , said in a statement that the Iran-allied group carried out "a high-quality military operation against a strategic target of the Israeli enemy in the occupied area of Beersheba using a Zulfiqar ballistic missile," while assuring that the attack "successfully achieved its objective."

This action, the first claimed by the Houthis since the truce between Israel and Iran reached this week , which ended a 12-day war, was "in response to the crimes of the criminal Zionist enemy against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip," according to Sarea.
He added that last week, Yemeni rebels also carried out several military operations against Israeli "strategic locations and military installations" in Beersheba, Tel Aviv, and Haifa in northern Israel, targeting them with "several ballistic missiles and drones."
The spokesperson did not provide further details about these attacks, although he assured them that they were "successful."
"Yemen, with its loyal and proud people, its faithful leadership, and its fighting army, will not abandon its religious, moral, and humanitarian duties toward the oppressed Palestinian people, regardless of the repercussions," Sarea said, adding that the Houthis will continue attacking Israel "until the aggression against Gaza ceases."
The Houthis have launched dozens of attacks against Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in late 2023, but also against commercial shipping in the Red Sea, causing major disruptions to commercial shipping in this important waterway.
