On Tuesday, November 11, an explosion was registered in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, exactly in front of the district courts, in the G-11 sector of the city, where hundreds of people are usually present during the opening hours of the place.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called the attack a "suicide," which left at least 12 dead and injured 27 people.
"A suicide attack occurred today at 12:39 (local time). The attack caused massive damage. Twelve people were killed and 27 were injured ," Naqvia told the press.
How did the events unfold?
According to the minister, the person who allegedly carried out the attack tried to enter the Court, but was unsuccessful due to the presence of a police vehicle.
Since his plan did not unfold as he had planned, he began attacking the cart after realizing he could not get inside.
"Everyone is checked before entering, so he didn't manage to get in." Naqvi thus revealed that their "first priority is to identify him."
Security forces, speaking on condition of anonymity, told EFE that the Pakistani Taliban group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) may be behind the attack. However, neither this group nor any other has claimed responsibility so far.
The explosion on November 11, which has been captured in dozens of videos circulating on social media, took place a day after a car exploded near the historic Red Fort in New Delhi, the capital of India, killing at least eight people and injuring 20.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed on Tuesday to bring to justice all those responsible for the explosion in New Delhi.
Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring TTP insurgents
Pakistan has experienced an increase in attacks by armed groups since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in the summer of 2021.
Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring TTP insurgents on its territory to carry out attacks inside Pakistan, something that the de facto government of Afghanistan denies.
