Those from the neoliberal era are more capable! Sheinbaum complains about her economic cabinet's lack of skill, reveals Roberto Rock.

CDMX.- President Claudia Sheinbaum has begun to express dissatisfaction with the performance of her economic cabinet, even accusing its members of not "being up to the challenges," says journalist Roberto Rock.

According to revelations made today in her column " Portrait Heretic ," the president has had to personally take on several key economic policy decisions due to a lack of technical expertise within her team.

"There are increasingly frequent reports that President Claudia Sheinbaum has had to shoulder economic policy decisions, expressing her displeasure with an economic team that doesn't seem up to the challenges facing the government, the most delicate in decades," the journalist explains.

Sources close to the government have reportedly confirmed to Rock that in private meetings of the economic cabinet, the President has made direct remarks, including sarcasm.

Sheinbaum, the editorialist asserts, has even negatively compared current economic cabinet officials with those from the neoliberal period , whom she considers, in contrast, "more capable of undertaking strategies that rise to the occasion."

Edgar Amador, Under Pressure from Sheinbaum

And although the president has rejected "with concealed exasperation, proposals from her Secretary of Economy , Marcelo Ebrard ," at the center of criticism is Édgar Amador Zamora , her Secretary of Finance , says Roberto Rock.

Amador Zamora took office last March, replacing Rogelio Ramírez de la O. Although he holds degrees from UNAM and El Colegio de México , the journalist notes that he lacks the technical or political profile that has historically characterized Treasury officials.

"His training and career also appear fragile compared to the three incumbents from the last six-year term: Carlos Urzúa, Arturo Herrera and Rogelio Ramírez de la O. Amador was Undersecretary of Finance for just five months before taking over from the aforementioned Ramírez de la O ... His main public responsibility in this area was the Ministry of Finance in Mexico City, under the management of Miguel Ángel Mancera," he details.

But beyond his technical profile, Rock adds, Amador doesn't seem to have the political leeway to fulfill the role expected of a finance secretary : being the official capable of saying "no" to the current ruler.

SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY, OVERWHELMED?

Among the main economic challenges facing Sheinbaum 's administration are the budget deficit, lack of investment, stagnant Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the financial crisis at Pemex , and the impact of tariff measures promoted by U.S. President Donald Trump .

"Each one (of these factors) on its own could be the worst nightmare for a head of that office. But if Édgar Amador is overpowered, the fuse remains connected to the Palace , " meaning the responsibility falls on the presidential figure, the journalist warns.
