The Coahuila government awards a $107.7 million contract for school supplies.

The Coahuila government awarded a contract worth 107 million 788 thousand 017.93 pesos, including Value Added Tax (VAT), to Grupo Más de México SA de CV for the purchase of 520,987 school supply packages for elementary school students for the 2025-2026 school year, which begins September 1 of this year. The bid, excluding VAT, was 92 million 920 thousand 705.11 pesos.

The above was announced in the ruling issued on April 10, 2025, by the General Directorate of Procurement of the Undersecretariat of Expenditures of the State Finance Secretariat regarding the National Public Tender DGA01-LPN-CA-E008-2025.

The second proposal received was from Soluciones Estratégicas Universales, SA de CV, with a value excluding VAT of 97 million 799 thousand 928.15 pesos, which was rejected for not meeting the conditions and requirements requested in the bidding rules.

According to the bases, the School packages are for initial, preschool, primary, secondary and special education levels There are 177,499 packages for the Southeast region; 153,376 packages for La Laguna; 71,999 packages for the Central Desert region; 34,852 packages for the Carbonífera zone; and 83,261 packages for the Northern zone.

For distribution, collection centers were established in the different regions.

For example, school supply packages for first, second, and third grades of primary education must contain: two Italian-ruled notebooks, folded and stapled, containing 100 sheets; 56-gram white bond paper with red margins; 12-point Caple paper covers; two white pages printed in a choice of colors on the front and back covers; and two-color Scribe/Norma/Torre covers on the second and third covers.

As well as a 20gsm adhesive pencil (Henkel, Pelikan, Kores); a 7x7mm Italian-shaped large-square grid notebook, folded and stapled with 100 sheets; 56gsm white bond paper with red margins, Caple 12-point paper covers, white on both sides, printed in a choice of colors on the front and back covers, and two-color Scribe/Norma/Torre covers on the second and third covers.

In addition, two No. 2 hexagonal graphite pencils, metric by Dixon, Master by Mexican Pencil Company, or Berol Mirado. Also included is a metal school pencil sharpener, a Barrelito or Maped brand sharpener; a crumb-sized eraser; a Pelikan M-20, Baco G-20, or BS-30 graphite pencil from Mexican Pencil Company; and a box of 12 non-toxic long wooden crayons, Snow White or Mapita by Dixon.

Recently, Flor Rentería, coordinator of Educational Services in La Laguna, reported that the Coahuila state government has already sent 100 percent of the school supplies that will be distributed to public elementary schools, primarily those located in the most vulnerable areas.
