Seventh running of the bulls of San Fermín | Three people were gored by the La Palmosilla bulls in a very fast and dangerous run.

It's hard to have a reputation for speedy bulls in Pamplona, given all the competition, but the La Palmosilla bulls have earned that reputation in just five appearances. It seems the San Fermin organizers' recipe for combating Sunday crowds: speed.

And so they have behaved. But it's also true that there was a bullfighter, to whom thousands of anecdotes and sayings are attributed, who said that he wasn't afraid of bullets, but of their speed. And the bulls of La Palmosilla have been bullets in this seventh running of the bulls of San Fermín.

It's already been seen in Santo Domingo: soon, one of the black bulls took the lead in the pack and imposed a brutal sprint, impossible to follow, throwing its head down in search of prey. This happened to a runner who found himself right in the middle of the street, holding a newspaper, and saw the animal approaching like a locomotive. It didn't run him over, but rather gored him, goring him in the thigh: the somersault was tremendous, landing on his back against the ground as if he were made of rubber. Thank goodness the bull slipped on his hindquarters, because he started to go back to the young man.

The chestnut bull from La Palmosilla took over as the leader of the running of the bulls, and another runner faced him, performing one of the races of the year, and certainly of his life. The two sides of the coin of this pure and dangerous section of the running of the bulls.

At the entrance to the Estafeta curve, another very dangerous situation arose involving a runner who regularly participates in this section. He was caught by the animals as he tried to abandon the race. One of them reared up and caught him in the fence, dragging him by his red jersey to the ground.

From there, the herd set off with four bulls in front, giving the Estafeta runners plenty of opportunities. Opportunities, not easy ones. They had to find the butt of the halter or one of the bulls in front to try to get a gap between the horns. Some looked like they were going to make it, but stumbled and were overwhelmed by the entire herd, as happened to a regular runner wearing a pink jersey.

Another classic of this section, however, he succeeded, staying in the bull's face until he felt its left horn between his flank and armpit. Many collisions, many falls all around, nothing simple with so much mass and so many runners around.

Along the Telefónica stretch, there have been familiar scenes on the right side of the enclosure. One day, there will be a terrible tragedy involving one of those young men who remain standing, clinging to the wooden fence like someone waiting for a bus at a bus shelter. Several have been run over, beaten, gored... And the animals there have their heads high, so that the fine-horned points of the La Palmosilla bulls pass by, striking or grazing their chests and necks as if they weren't meaning to.

Finally, the injury report mentions at least three gored victims.

Bulls from La Palmosilla for Jiménez Fortes, Fernando Adrián and Ginés Marín.
