Sedena grants financial support of up to 26 thousand pesos

PETO.— The 2025 weapons exchange began yesterday in the town, which took place in the atrium of the Church of the Assumption.
Their motto was "Let's put aside weapons, let's teach children and our children that they can play with other types of toys that are not war toys, and let our generation say yes to peace, yes to disarmament."
The activity began with the honoring of the national flag, an event attended by representatives from the State Undersecretariat of Religious Affairs, the parish vicar, and the 32nd Military Zone.
Also present were members of the Municipal Police, the Public Security Secretariat, and the National Guard, who participated in the flag-waving ceremony.
It was reported that the campaign's goal is to promote peaceful living among society and that having a gun in the home can lead to other situations that affect their families.
Children could also exchange their war toys and in return were given recreational toys so they could have fun in a healthy way, helping them stay away from trouble.
The weapons that were taken for exchange were destroyed on the spot and the owner was given financial support.
The campaign will conclude today, Saturday, at 1 p.m., so it is hoped that more people will be motivated to participate.— MIGUEL ÁNGEL MOO GóNGORA
