Iranian President approves law suspending cooperation with the IAEA

Iranian President approves law suspending cooperation with the IAEA
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian approved a law on Wednesday, July 2, suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) , Iran's state-run Press TV reported.
Last week, Iran's Guardian Council approved a plan to suspend cooperation with the IAEA, which would entail banning the agency from entering Iran and expelling all of its inspectors.

The move follows growing tensions between Iran and the IAEA over the Israeli offensive launched on June 13 with the aim of destroying Iran's nuclear program, which was later followed by U.S. attacks on facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Tehran accuses the IAEA of failing to condemn these attacks, which Iran claims violate the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and international law.
For this reason, Iran is also "considering" banning Grossi from entering the country. Grossi has been repeatedly criticized by Iran for his "politically motivated" reports, which Iran claims were used as "pretexts" to justify the Israeli offensive.
In an interview with French broadcaster RFI, Grossi acknowledged that there is "a certain tension" in relations between the IAEA and Iran , where "there are political voices" that believe the UN agency "was biased" because it failed to condemn the Israeli attacks.

The IAEA director general said that after the cessation of hostilities, he wrote to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to tell him they needed to sit down around a table and that he planned to travel to Iran immediately to resume inspections , but he has not received a response.
The IAEA is seeking to analyze the damage caused by the Israeli and US bombings of Iranian nuclear plants and the extent to which it leaves the development of a possible atomic bomb.
Meanwhile, the ultraconservative Iranian daily Kayhan recently reported that there are alleged documents proving Grossi is an Israeli spy and should be executed.
