The heavy rains that occurred throughout Wednesday night and into the early hours of Thursday have triggered an overflow alert for the Foix reservoir (Barcelona).

According to the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), a warning has been issued that the reservoir's overflow alert threshold has been exceeded, with a flow rate of 20.5 cubic meters per second.

Thus, impacts are expected in low-lying areas of the riverbed in the municipalities of Castellet i la Gornal and Cubelles (Barcelona), and they have urged "great caution."

The Aemet (Spanish Meteorological Agency) already warned of "locally strong or very strong" storms early Thursday morning along the Catalan coast, and has warned that the area is at the maximum warning level , i.e., orange level.

As a result, road closures have occurred due to the storm. The B-112 in Collbató and the BV-2117 in Castellet i la Gornal (Barcelona), both heading towards the capital. There is also an incident on the C-31 in Castelldefels, with one lane closed, also heading towards the Catalan capital.

The regions from which the most calls have been made are Vallès Occidental (108), Vallès Oriental (54) and Barcelonès (46).
