Carey and Pumba, two inseparable cats who need a home

Carey and Pumbaa don't share blood, but they do share an inseparable bond. Carey, six, and Pumbaa, four, are two rescued kittens with difficult histories, united by adversity and mutual affection, as reported by the Profauna association . Now they are searching for a permanent home together after years of waiting.
Carey's life took a dramatic turn in 2020 when she was found by a woman on her way home from work. " The kitten was wandering around disoriented in the middle of the road, seriously injured ," the association's volunteers recall.
After being rescued, veterinarians made a terrifying discovery: she had been shot several times with pellets, which are still lodged in her body, in delicate areas such as her eye, skull, abdomen, and lung. "Although Carey lost almost all of her vision, her loving and sociable nature was not harmed in any way; she remains curious, affectionate, and trusting with humans and animals alike," the shelter states.
" Pumba, for her part, also suffered from a very young age ," they lament. "Rescued from a cat colony as a baby, she arrived with a severe eye ulcer that left her blind in one eye, but despite her difficult start, Pumba took on a fundamental role as Carey's guide and constant companion."
The association's volunteers say that, although she remains somewhat shy around strangers, " when she gains confidence, she displays a sweet and affectionate nature ."
In joint adoption"They have both been seeking adoption together for years due to their special bond and Carey's need for guidance in her daily life," they add. "So far, they have not found a permanent family , and their situation is worsened by the imminent loss of their foster home."
The association has announced that the adoption of Carey and Pumba will be free of charge , covering all veterinary costs except for the change of ownership of the microchip. Now, they are appealing for the solidarity and kindness of a family who can offer them the loving and stable home they deserve.
