Barcelona and Girona on weather alert for storms, heat, and wind

Temperatures will generally rise this Saturday across the Iberian Peninsula, although Catalonia and Andalusia will be under pressure due to storm warnings, heat, wind, and coastal weather, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
Specifically, the provinces of Barcelona and Girona will activate orange and yellow alerts, respectively, in the early hours of the day, due to the forecast of showers and severe storms, which could be particularly strong and cause waves on the coasts.

The Andalusian provinces of Córdoba, Huelva, and Seville will be at risk (yellow alert) throughout the day due to high temperatures, while Cádiz will activate the alert in the early morning due to strong winds and coastal phenomena.
More broadly, Aemet has forecast a cold trough to continue affecting the extreme northeast of the country this Saturday, with Catalonia and, subsequently, the Balearic archipelago most affected by this situation during the early morning hours, with significant rainfall.
Occasional showers in eastern CataloniaMeanwhile, the entry of a humid air mass through the north of the peninsula will leave cloudy skies in the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees, with light rainfall in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and on the northern side of the Pyrenees.
Scattered clouds will develop in the northeast and east, with occasional showers possible in eastern Catalonia. The rest of the country is expected to see stable weather with mostly clear or mostly cloudy skies.

Linked to this, morning fog or mist is likely in inland areas and high altitudes in the far north and southeast, as well as during the day in the Balearic Islands, while in the Canary Islands, low morning clouds are expected on the easternmost islands.
Regarding temperatures, the public agency has predicted that maximum temperatures will generally rise, although they will do so more gently or even remain unchanged in coastal areas. They will reach around 35°C in areas such as Ciudad Real, Badajoz, Cáceres, Granada, Huelva, Seville, and Jaén, among others.
At the same time, minimum temperatures predicted by the mercury, while falling in the southern third of the peninsula and archipelagos, will rise in the central and inland northwest; thus, they will remain above 20-22 degrees in the Mediterranean and low-pressure areas of the southwest.

Kike Rincón - Europa PressRegarding the winds, Aemet has forecast that they will blow light to moderate, with a predominant northerly component, easterly in the Strait and Alboran, and tending to a southerly component in the eastern Mediterranean area.
It's worth noting that significant winds may occur in Atlantic Galicia, the Empordà, Baix Ebre, the northern Balearic Islands, and the Strait of Gibraltar. Light winds, predominantly northerly and westerly, will blow in the Canary Islands, while moderate northerly winds are expected in the Ebro.
