Tobias Weis: 100 photos for his birthday – Miami Weis

July 3, 2002: Tobias Weis is introduced to the VfB Stuttgart youth team. He joined the team six years ago after playing for SC Bibersfeld and Sportfreunde Schwäbisch Hall as a child.

Almost at the same time, and only for the sake of timing, Karlsruhe's Tobias Weis celebrates a goal with the very young Clemens Fritz and the slightly older Bruno Labbadia.

For Tobias Weis from Stuttgart, however, his career is just beginning. As an A-youth player (right), he is participating in the famous youth tournament in Sindelfingen.

Weis is only 1.70 meters tall, so he'll have to impress once again in the derby against Stuttgarter Kickers.

The persuasion worked: Weis was introduced to the Stuttgart amateur team in the summer of 2004. He was joined by Mario Gomez (4th from left) and Christian Gentner (3rd from left).

Not visible in this picture: Weis' lucky streak.

Weis fights his way in...

And after a year, he's still playing for the reserve team, alongside teammates like Matthias Morys, David Pisot, Marcel Schuon, Adam Szalai, Sami Khedira, and Sven Ulreich.

However, Weis is now also allowed to train with the first team and under Giovanni Trapattoni.

Tobias Weis celebrates his professional debut with a mullet. Or rather: party in the back, phew, yeah, haha, wow in the front.

But in the winter of 2006, Armin Veh finally brought him into the Bundesliga squad. Here, Weis celebrates with Timo Hildebrand.

Half a year before winning the German championship, Weis is waiting for the kick-off of a test match on the sidelines of the winter training camp in Dubai together with President Erwin Staudt.

Speaking of friendly matches: Weis is still not allowed to play for the first team after the training camp. Instead, he'll play with the reserve team against SV Fellbach or...

...he lets Arthur Boka have sex with him during training.

So Tobias Weis will be moving to the up-and-coming second division club TSG Hoffenheim in the summer.

And on his very first day at work, he gets devoured by Arthur Boka in a friendly match.

What does Weis bring back from Stuttgart? Gledson's hairdresser has such an idea.

But the move was the right decision! Weis, pictured here with Sejad Salihovic, quickly made friends...

... celebrates his own goals ...

... and promotion to the Bundesliga at the end of the season!

A modest project from Sinsheim unexpectedly rises to prominence. The following are celebrating: Demba Ba, Tobias Weis, Chinedu Obasi, and Dietmar Hopp.

Hoffenheim is taking a completely new approach, including tactically. Seen here is the so-called golden ratio.

In any case, Weis has arrived in professional football. And Hoffenheim is taking the Bundesliga by storm.

Here, Gladbach’s Roberto Colautti has to prove himself against Weis and Per Nilsson.

Vedad Ibisevic is already pointing toward the autumn championship. Salihovic, Weis, and Ba are simply continuing their progress. But success also has its downsides.

Before the local clash against Stuttgart, Weis meets with Martin Lanig and has to take semi-embarrassing "We'll show you what's what" photos for the local press...

...of course, none of this is entirely serious. Just a wink.

Of course, I hope not all of this is meant entirely seriously, dear visitors of the Tauberbischofsheim Olympic Training Center!

Tobias Weis can no longer believe it either.

“And you’ve all been standing here since 1899?” Weis in a fight with his own fans.

He and Hoffenheim are convincing. All of German football in general, and Marcel Schäfer in particular. So, what's inevitable will happen:

Schäfer, Tobias Weis and Marvin Compper go on a school trip to Berlin in November 2008, are a little excited and visit Potsdamer Platz.

Just kidding! Joachim Löw nominated Weis for the national team. Just like Marko Marin and Serdar Tasci—no joke!

After the international match, there's a direct clash against Bayern in the Bundesliga. But Hoffenheim and Weis have to take a beating.

Really take a lot.

In the end, Weis even pockets a Bayern jersey.

Only to dish it out again a week later against Schalke and Fabian Ernst.

Really a lot to share.

Weis arrives at the “Sportsman of the Year” awards ceremony with a fresh tan and his girlfriend Carolin.

Selim Teber accepts the award from Rudi Cerne. Weis's gaze, like a single unsolved case number.

“What's it like up there?” - Tobias Weis sniffs the mountain air.

Loses header duels against Mark van Bommel.

And takes off a little bit every now and then.

He also has a new girlfriend: Rehana.

But overall: simply a great season.

Legends among themselves: Weis and Kevin Großkreutz.

Legends among themselves: Weis and Srdan Lakic.

Lege-, so in any case: Weis and Danijel Pranjić among themselves.

But starting in 2011—and at the latest with the departure of Ralf Rangnick—the Baden-born player's streak of luck began to falter. First, he got injured.

Then he has a new hairstyle.

Then another new friend (middle).

Here Tobias Weis messes up a possible later move to Liverpool FC.

Under Holger Stanislawski, he was already advised to look for a new club in the winter of 2011.

It was only under Markus Babbel that he was used more frequently again from February 2012 onwards.

It's worth persevering.

And celebrations must be celebrated as they come. With a new striker: Kevin Volland.

... and a new girlfriend.

Weis works hard, here against Chinedu Ede. And in doing so, he plays his way into the heart of...

... new coach Markus Gisdol.

Come here, you. Gisdol and Weis celebrate a crucial point against Werder Bremen in the fight to avoid relegation on Matchday 32 of the 2012/13 season.

The relegation match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern is a close call.

In the end, Weis and TSG celebrated staying in the league relatively confidently.

Speaking of which: celebrating with confidence.

But the celebration was followed by a hangover, or rather: training group 2. Weis worked on a side pitch with Tim Wiese, Edson Braafheid, Matthieu Delpierre, Matthias Jaissle and Eren Derdiyok.

"It was undoubtedly the worst time of my life. That's not how you treat players. The decision to form such a training group was disrespectful and a career-ending blow for all of us," Weis told fussball.de in a later interview.

After six months on the training ground, the Hoffenheim chapter is over. Weis is moving to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.

Under Armin Veh, who brought him into the first team in Stuttgart, things are expected to improve again.

"With the coach, with the fans, with the team, everything fits perfectly here," said Weis about his debut. He wants to repay the trust.

And so he gets fit...

...but in the relegation battle, Veh relies on other players. Aside from brief appearances, Weis is primarily a training champion.

Which is why the one-time international player was introduced to VfL Bochum in the summer of 2014, when other teams became world champions in Brazil.

“Mr. Weis, will VfL Bochum be promoted with you?”

“Mr. Weis, will you lead VfL Bochum into the European Cup?”

“Mr. Weis, if you move to Bochum, will the city be the new German Miami Weis?”

“Mr. Weis, why do you look so strange all the time?”

It doesn't matter: the main thing is to have the ball at your feet again.

Because the time in Hoffenheim has already shown: All it takes is a coach, a proven expert, a man with vision who believes in him. Or, Peter Neururer?

In any case, he's crawling back up and taking part in all the preparation.

... takes “Hey, everything is great here on the bench” photos with Mikael Forssell.

Patrick Fabian, Timo Perthel, Tobias Weis, Anthony Losilla, Stefano Celozzi, Yusuke Tasaka, Simon Terodde, Stanislav Sestak. Or as they say in Bochum: Jaa.

Oh, don't worry, this photo only sneaked in because Tobias Levels and Andre Weis are featured in the caption. Because while Ingolstadt is celebrating promotion to the Bundesliga...

...Weis is suffering from a torn syndesmosis ligament. This is why the midfielder will only make ten appearances for Bochum, but has been offered a new two-year contract at the end of the season.

He was "the element we were sometimes missing last season. A player of Bundesliga caliber, technically excellent, with a feel for the structure and rhythm of the game, and the necessary aggressiveness in one-on-one combat," said sporting director Christian Hochstätter. Coach Gertjan Verbeek saw things quite differently. And mostly forgoes this element.

Which is why Weis primarily appears as a driving force - during the celebrations after the game.

He tries to impress again in the winter training camp...

... at the 2016 summer camp, too. But then his contract was terminated by mutual agreement. And Weis ...

...is supposed to at least play for FC Homburg afterward, but the club is relegated before the contract is signed. And Weis...

... joins FSV 08 Bissingen.

But it doesn't matter, because the man already had a completely different task.

Food! To be precise: pinsa.

An Italian focaccia based on a recipe from ancient Rome.

And the former “Nutella Boy” now offers it in several cities in his home region.

Or rather: Hmm? Yes, exactly: Tobias Weis has been playing again for a while. For the regional league team TSV Weilimdorf.

But after one year and 16 games, according to statistics, it was over. Today, Tobias Weis turns 40. We say: Congratulations. And bon appetit.
