Galatasaray Istanbul is investing heavily in its squad. Following Leroy Sané, the club has now also signed Victor Osimhen on a permanent basis. €75 million is being transferred to Napoli for the striker.
Galatasaray Istanbul has signed Victor Osimhen permanently – making it a record transfer in Turkish football. The striker moves from Italian champions SSC Napoli to the Bosporus champions for €75 million, becoming the most expensive player ever to join the Süper Lig.
The previous record was €19.5 million: that's how much Fenerbahce spent on Youssef En-Nesyri in 2023. According to consistent reports, the sum will be paid in two installments: €40 million immediately, and another €35 million next year.
Osimhen already impressed as a loan player at Galatasaray last season: With 26 goals and five assists in the league, he led the club to the double. He scored twice in the cup final against Trabzonspor. In total, the 26-year-old has 37 goals and eight assists in 41 competitive matches for the club.
According to the club, Osimhen will receive €21 million per season for his new four-year contract until 2029. The Nigerian reportedly turned down a higher offer from Saudi Arabia. Thousands of "Gala" fans had already greeted the striker at Istanbul airport before the contract signing on Wednesday evening.
With this signing, "Gala" is once again causing a stir in this transfer window. The club recently signed Leroy Sané on a free transfer from FC Bayern. However, the deal isn't limited to Sané and full-backs Ismail Jakobs from AS Monaco for €8 million, and Przemyslaw Frankowski from RC Lens for €7 million. They're looking for a world-class goalkeeper, with Ederson from Manchester City considered the most likely option.
