HR Information: Frankfurt's Trapp about to return to Paris

HR Information: Frankfurt's Trapp about to return to Paris

According to information from hr-sport, Kevin Trapp will leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. As with his last departure from Hesse, the goalkeeper is headed to Paris.

Just a few days before the first competitive match of the season, Eintracht Frankfurt's squad is seeing a surprising change. According to information from hr-sport, Kevin Trapp, who attended SGE's family day on Wednesday, will leave the Hesse club and join newly promoted Paris FC. While both clubs have yet to agree on the final transfer fee, there's little doubt that the transfer will go through soon.

Trapp and Paris: It just fits

For Trapp, this is already the second time he's turned his back on the banking capital to join the City of Love. In 2015, the goalkeeper moved from SGE to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €9.5 million. Now, at the age of 35, things are a bit smaller for the goalkeeper at PFC.

According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, which first reported on the interest from Paris, the newly promoted club particularly values the German goalkeeper's experience. For Trapp, who reportedly still has an apartment in the French capital, it's a homecoming of sorts. The former national goalkeeper speaks fluent French, and his fiancée, Izabel Goulart, according to the tabloid Bild, still has her heart in the City of Love. Et voilà.

Eintracht Frankfurt, for their part, already considers Kaua Santos to be Trapp's legitimate successor. The only problem: the Brazilian is still rehabbing after a cruciate ligament tear . A comeback at the start of the season is virtually impossible. The question now is whether to go with number three Jens Grahl or sign another goalkeeper at short notice. Kicker immediately suggested Michael Zetterer of Werder Bremen on Wednesday afternoon.

With the impending Trapp transfer, Eintracht Frankfurt has at least eliminated another problem: Trapp's public demotion. According to information from hr-sport, the 35-year-old was clearly informed that he would only be second-choice in goal once Santos was fit again. The Brazilian is expected to start against Leverkusen on Bundesliga Matchday 3. Everything currently indicates that Kevin Trapp will no longer be in Frankfurt by then.
