German women's hockey team fights against strong Belgium for the European Championship final

Following the men's final, the German women's hockey team could follow suit on Friday and advance to the European Championship final with a win against Belgium. Follow the match live starting at 8 p.m.

In the semifinals on Friday (8 p.m./Magenta TV), European Championship runners-up Belgium could block their path to the final, as they did in previous European Championships. With a win, however, the German women could follow the men's example and also advance to the final in Mönchengladbach.

"This could be a cool highlight. We'll show our best hockey, and then it's up to the Belgians. I would also be happy to play against the Netherlands again," said goalkeeper Julia Sonntag after the draw against Ireland.
