Former German boxing world champion Brähmer mourns deceased coach

Longtime boxing trainer Michael Timm has passed away at the age of 62. His former protégé Jürgen Brähmer announced the news on Instagram.
The boxing world is mourning the loss of Michael Timm. The 62-year-old succumbed to cancer after a serious illness.
Former boxer Jürgen Brähmer, who worked with Timm for years, mourned his coach on Instagram on Wednesday. "Today we lost a wonderful person. Timi enriched my life with his kindness, his laughter, and his warmth. I am infinitely grateful for the time we spent together and will forever carry you in my heart. Rest in peace, dear trainer," wrote the former WBA and WBO light heavyweight champion.
Timm was himself a successful amateur boxer and secured the European light middleweight title in 1985. The Mecklenburg native then turned professional and joined the Universum boxing stable in Hamburg, where he coached five world champions and two women's world champions, among others. His most famous protégés include Brähmer and Felix Sturm. Timm landed a special coup in 2007 when his heavyweight Ruslan Chagaev defeated the Russian giant Nikolai Valuev, stealing the world title from him.
