Sven Ottke was seriously injured in a collision in Mallorca. The former boxing world champion collided with a car while cycling and is now being treated in hospital.

Sven Ottke, undefeated double boxing world champion (IBF, WBA), suffered a double tibia fracture and a shoulder injury in a serious cycling accident in the south of Mallorca. As reported by "Bild," the 58-year-old collided with a female driver in Puigderros. Ottke underwent tibia surgery on Tuesday.

His long-time companion and trainer Ulli Wegner (83) told "Bild": "Sven Ottke is doing well considering the circumstances. I will visit him in the hospital on Wednesday. He was simply run over."

As a professional boxer, Ottke had fought 34 fights and won all of them. After his last professional fight, Ottke gave his former coach a convertible car. "I always dreamed of a two-seater, and Sven made it possible. I'll never forget that. Now I wish my former protégé a speedy recovery," Wegner said.
