FOCUS-online forecast: How Germany will play against Spain

In the Women's European Championship semifinal against Spain, national coach Christian Wück will have to rebuild his successful team from the France match. FOCUS online predicts which eleven should take us to the final.
Christian Wück kept his cards close to his chest on Tuesday, simply announcing "changes." This was already clear, however, as three players from the starting lineup against France—Sarai Linder (injured), Kathrin Hendrich (red card suspension), and Sjoeke Nüsken (yellow card suspension)—are missing.
While players like Franziska Kett and Giovanna Hoffmann have secured their spots after strong performances, four positions remain unclear. FOCUS online predicts who will play on Wednesday to beat Spain .
Right back: Sophia Kleinherne is the logical choice. She came on early against France for the injured Linder and performed superbly – no reason to change her. However, she could also be needed in the center of defense. Alternatively, Carlotta Wamser, who is returning from a red card suspension, could play on the right. Prediction: Wamser will play because Kleinherne is needed in the center.

Central defense: Rebecca Knaak is a starting midfielder, as is Janina Minge – but where the captain will play is unclear. Against France, she started as a deep six, but moved back after Hendrich's red card and was the rook in the battle. Against Spain, she could start as she did against France. In that case, Sophia Kleinherne would move inside and Carlotta Wamser to right back. Prediction: Kleinherne will play inside because Minge is needed at number six.
Six or ten: Minge in the six position – or is it? A return to the 4-2-3-1 from the preliminary round, with Linda Dallmann or Laura Freigang in the ten position, is also possible. However, the Gagners weren't as strong attacking as the Spanish – or they were, like Sweden, and Germany was overrun. Prediction: Minge will play again in the deep six position as a link to the midfield.
Nüsken's replacement: Sjoeke Nüsken has been a regular starter so far, taking penalties in Giulia Gwinn's absence. However, the vice-captain is now out with a yellow card suspension. She could be replaced by Sara Däbritz or Sydney Lohmann. Däbritz's 12 years of experience with the national team and her calmness are in her favor, while Lohmann's strength of movement and transition skills are in his favor. Prediction: Lohmann will get the nod, while Däbritz will play as a substitute again.

FOCUS online forecast: Berger - Wamser, Kleinherne, Knaak, Kett - Minge - Brand, Lohmann, Senß, Bühl - Hoffmann
