A good hour's drive from Munich, VfB Stuttgart is starting its training camp. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth is speaking about Nick Woltemade, who is being courted by FC Bayern Munich, and remains firm. Any further action in the recruitment process seems almost impossible.
VfB Stuttgart continues to show no interest in transferring its star striker Nick Woltemade to FC Bayern Munich. "Nick will most likely be part of the squad again this season," said sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth at the start of the Swabian Bundesliga club's training camp in Rottach-Egern.
Woltemade "seems motivated," Wohlgemuth explained. The team was looking forward to the national striker's return. Last Saturday morning, he had a "lengthy" and "good conversation" with the attacker. The 46-year-old did not reveal whether Woltemade's desired transfer to Bayern Munich was also discussed.
Back among the Stuttgart colleaguesVfB will be preparing for the new Bundesliga season at Tegernsee in the coming days. Upon arrival at midday, Woltemade got off the bus, grabbed his suitcase, stopped briefly for an autograph and a photo with fans, and then disappeared into the hotel. Later, he and his teammates participated in their first training session on the pitch in pouring rain.
Woltemade, who would like to join Bayern this summer despite his contract running until 2028 and expressed his wish to the VfB bosses some time ago, is back among his Stuttgart teammates for the time being. On Saturday, he completed the usual performance diagnostics and fitness tests. The 23-year-old had previously been on vacation due to his appearances at the Nations League final tournament and the U21 European Championship.
No invitation from Hoeneß or EberlThe transfer squabble surrounding the rising star has been a constant media topic for weeks, but the two clubs are far apart in their transfer expectations. After being rebuffed by VfB with two offers – the second of which reportedly exceeded €50 million – Bayern have recently held back. Will there be any new movement on the Woltemade case at the VfB camp, which is only about an hour's drive from Munich, or even a face-to-face meeting between the club's executives?
Wohlgemuth responded to a question about this by saying that he had not received an invitation from Bayern's honorary president Uli Hoeneß or Munich's sporting director Max Eberl, both of whom live on Lake Tegernsee. VfB has just under three weeks left until its first competitive match of the new season. The DFB Cup winners will face German champions Bayern Munich in the Supercup on August 16th at their home stadium.
Frenchman Enzo Millot, who is reportedly on the verge of a move to Atlético Madrid, will also be at Tegernsee. The midfielder was released for Saturday's friendly against Celta Vigo (2-1 win). Wohlgemuth explained that he will be given time to make the right decision. Millot has several options. This could take "days, possibly weeks."
