FSV Mainz 05's Bundesliga season begins at home. With a win against 1. FC Köln on Sunday (3:30 p.m./DAZN), the Mainz 05ers hope to not only secure their first three points in the league, but also gain confidence for the return leg of the Conference League playoffs against Rosenborg Trondheim.
It remains to be seen how the Rhinelanders have overcome the travel strain after the 1-2 defeat in the first leg and whether they have been able to recover sufficiently. Coach Bo Henriksen left open the extent to which he will rotate the team compared to the European Cup.
In the clash with newly promoted Cologne, Henriksen expects a very different game than the last one in Trondheim. He warned of a well-organized team against which clever solutions will be needed.
