Champions Bayern and cup winners Stuttgart fight for the first title of the season

On the weekend before the Bundesliga kicks off, FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart will be competing for their first title of the season. The match for the newly named Franz Beckenbauer Supercup will be available here in the live ticker starting at 8:30 p.m.
Six days before the start of the Bundesliga, DFB Cup winners VfB Stuttgart and German champions FC Bayern Munich will compete for the first title of the season. The Franz Beckenbauer Supercup will be played on Saturday evening (8:30 p.m.) in a sold-out Stuttgart stadium.
As the competition's record winners, Bayern are hoping for their eleventh victory overall. Stuttgart have only won the Supercup once – in 1992. A year ago, the Swabians, as runners-up, lost to double winners Bayer 04 Leverkusen on penalties, albeit away from home.
For both teams and their coaches, the Supercup is more than just a well-funded final performance test before the start of the league season. The winner receives a three-million-euro bonus, the loser two million.
A lot of prestige is at stake in the southern German league. National player Nick Woltemade will be a particular focus. The 23-year-old's dream of moving from Stuttgart to Munich will likely not come true this summer.
