US Federal Reserve: Donald Trump's list of candidates for the top job at the Fed appears to be getting longer

Other candidates on the roughly ten-person list reportedly include National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett (63), Fed Director Christopher Waller (66), and former Fed Director Kevin Warsh (55). All three have signaled their support for lower interest rates, which Trump had cited as a prerequisite for taking office.

Powell's term ends in May next year

As recently as Thursday, the Bloomberg news agency reported that Waller was emerging as the favorite for the top job. Trump himself had recently spoken of three candidates, including "two Kevins" – Hassett and Warsh. He did not name the third.
