Severe storms were forecast for eastern and northeastern Germany.

Despite severe storm warnings for eastern and northeastern Germany, authorities initially reported that the night remained largely calm. Although it rained heavily in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, police reported that there were no major incidents or major damage. The situation was similar in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Saxony. Authorities there also reported no major incidents. The fire department in Rostock also initially reported no special incidents. As of 4:00 a.m., there had not been a single incident, according to a spokesperson.
Severe weather warnings in the northeast and eastThe German Weather Service (DWD) had previously issued the highest warning level for the areas between Rostock and Stralsund, as well as parts of the Baltic Sea island of Rügen. Severe weather warnings for heavy or persistent rain also applied to parts of Brandenburg, Berlin, and Saxony. In response to a dpa inquiry early this morning, a DWD spokesperson said that precise information on the amount of precipitation overnight could not yet be provided, but that it may have rained less than forecast.
In Berlin and Brandenburg, the rain that evening also initially didn't cause any major problems. Open-air concerts by Robbie Williams and opera singer Anna Netrebko were canceled there that afternoon due to the weather. There were no major incidents in Saxony either.
Weather on TuesdayIt's expected to remain wet in the east and northeast, however. The German Weather Service (DWD) is forecasting showers and isolated thunderstorms in some areas. Showers are also expected to move in from the west. Longer sunny spells, however, are expected south of the Danube. Highs throughout the day will range between 19 and 26 degrees Celsius across the country.
