Minimum wage: Commission proposes increase to 14.60 euros

The statutory minimum wage in Germany is to increase in two steps from the current €12.82 to €14.60 per hour by January 1, 2027. This was proposed by the Minimum Wage Commission, made up of unions and employers, in a unanimous resolution, chairwoman Christiane Schönefeld (78) told journalists in Berlin on Friday. Initially, the minimum wage would rise to €13.90 at the beginning of 2026. She called this a viable solution.
