Inflation: Inflation rate falls to 2.1 percent thanks to cheap energy

Energy, in particular, became cheaper: Prices in April were 5.4 percent lower than in the same month last year. The price of oil, for example, fell sharply as a result of the tariff dispute and concerns about the global economy, which consumers are feeling when filling up their cars.

Food prices, on the other hand, rose again by an above-average 2.8 percent. However, price pressure also eased somewhat for food. In March, food and services, including restaurant visits and car repairs, had already increased above average, while fuel and heating became cheaper. From March to April of this year, consumer prices rose overall by 0.4 percent.
