How suitable are electric cars for everyday use? Electric car drivers answer this question very differently than drivers with no experience with electric vehicles.

Charging points, range, comfort: According to a survey, people without experience with electric cars rate their everyday suitability lower than those who drive them. This is the finding of a YouGov survey commissioned by the German Press Agency (DPA). According to the survey, 80 percent of respondents who own or have used an electric car stated that vehicles with this drive type are suitable or fairly suitable for everyday use. Among respondents who do not own an electric car and have not yet driven one, only 45 percent agreed.
When asked about individual criteria, however, fears and experiences are less far apart. While 59 percent of respondents without e-car experience expect a lack of public charging points, half of all e-car drivers (52 percent) also cited this as a problem. A similar picture emerges with regard to the issue of insufficient range: 61 percent of respondents without e-car experience would expect this disadvantage, while 55 percent of e-car drivers also had similar experiences.
The reputation is improvingOverall, respondents perceive an improved image of this drive type. Forty-two percent stated that the reputation of electric drive systems has improved or improved somewhat over the past five years. Only just under one in four (23 percent) perceives a deterioration.
Between last Tuesday and Thursday, 2,006 people from the YouGov panel were surveyed. The survey is therefore representative of the resident population in Germany aged 18 and over.
