Health Minister Nina Warken: Fresh energy for a thankless office

The new Federal Minister of Health, Nina Warken, has not had much to do with medicine and care so far. She has nothing to distribute, but must impose cuts on the insured.
The appointment of Nina Warken as Federal Minister of Health took the industry as much by surprise as it did politically in Berlin. Virtually no one had the parliamentary manager of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group on their list of candidates – except, of course, Manuel Hagel. He is the CDU state chairman in Baden-Württemberg and is doing everything he can to become state premier there next year. Nina Warken is his choice in every respect: The state chairman appointed the 45-year-old lawyer as Secretary General of the Baden-Württemberg CDU, trusts her as an advisor in his inner circle, and he was likely also the one who secured her nomination with Friedrich Merz .
