Deir al-Balah: Israel's new offensive hits Gaza particularly hard

Aid organizations warn of a collapse of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. Israel's advance into Deir al-Balah is dramatically worsening the situation.
The Israeli army sent out a convoluted statement on Tuesday. It felt under pressure after the World Health Organization (WHO) reported an attack in the Gaza Strip. Soldiers raided a compound in Deir al-Balah where staff members were staying three times on Monday, said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The central warehouse in the city in the center of the Gaza Strip was also attacked. The military "forced women and children to flee on foot toward Al-Mawasi while the fighting was still raging," Tedros said on Platform X. "Male staff and family members were handcuffed, stripped, interrogated on the spot, and checked at gunpoint." Tedros demanded the release of a staff member who remains in detention and, in general, "the protection of all staff."
