The energy startup 1Komma5° announces a new investor: Sabanci Climate Ventures, the climate investment arm of the Sabanci Group, based in Turkey.
The startup thus expands its pre-IPO financing from December 2024, when 1Komma5° secured €150 million. The company did not disclose the amount of the expanded round when asked by Gründerszene.
The Sabanci Group belongs to one of the most influential entrepreneurial families in Turkey. In addition to energy, it is active in the building materials and finance sectors, among others. The portfolio of Sabanci Climate Ventures includes, for example, the MIT spinoff Active Surfaces, which builds ultra-thin solar cells, and Aikido Technologies, which is building a floating platform for offshore wind turbines. The climate investment arm primarily participates in Series A and B rounds.

With the expanded round, Sabanci Climate Ventures joins a list of investors. To date, 1Komma5° has "raised almost €400 million in equity and remains debt-free," the startup says. The unicorn is profitable "despite two years of recession in Germany and regulatory challenges."
The energy startup is also looking back on a successful year in 2024: last year it generated sales of 520 million euros – 70 million more than in 2023 (458 million euros).
With the fresh capital, 1Komma5° plans to drive its organic growth and scale Heartbeat AI. Heartbeat AI is an energy management platform developed by 1Komma5°.
It uses artificial intelligence to optimize energy consumption in households and combine it with renewable energy sources. The goal is to supply customers with affordable electricity directly from the electricity exchange.
According to the startup, it plans to invest more than 100 million euros in expanding Heartbeat AI's software business by 2027.
