Jan Ullrich: Professional cyclist in hospital after collision with a car

Jan Ullrich was hit by a car during cycling training. The Tour de France hero has to be treated in a hospital.
Cycling legend Jan Ullrich (51) was injured in an accident and had to be hospitalized. According to Eurosport, citing his management , the former professional was hit by a car while training near his home. According to the report, Ullrich suffered a broken collarbone in the subsequent fall, as well as bruises and abrasions. Prior to the accident, he was denied right of way near his home.
Ullrich was originally scheduled to appear as a guest on the sports channel "Eurosport" on Saturday and Sunday, following the broadcasts of the stages of this year's Giro d'Italia, which started on Friday. However, the appearances on the live show have now had to be canceled due to the accident, the channel also announced. He plans to reschedule his studio visit as soon as possible, the channel added. According to information from the sports channel, Ullrich was still in the hospital on Friday evening.
Major cycling festival plannedThe accident comes at a particularly inopportune time for Ullrich, as he had planned a major cycling festival in Bad Dürrheim in the Black Forest for the coming week. Many former cycling stars and companions of the Olympic champion are expected to attend the two-day event.
Among them are Lance Armstrong (53), Bradley Wiggins (45), Udo Bölts (58), and Andreas Klöden (49). It is currently unclear whether Ullrich will even be able to attend the festival himself due to his injury.
Jan Ullrich is one of the greatest German cyclists of all time. In 1997, he became the only German to win the Tour de France. He also won the gold medal in the individual time trial at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and was twice world champion.
