Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: He shares his "key to happiness"

This year, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are celebrating their tenth anniversary. A time that has flown by.
After about ten years together with Gwen Stefani (55), country singer Blake Shelton (48) reveals the couple's secret to happiness. In an interview with the US magazine "People" about his new album "For Recreational Use Only," he also talks about everyday life with the former No Doubt frontwoman.
This year, the couple celebrates their tenth anniversary. "It really feels like time is flying by," Shelton says. "Some of the things we talk about, we're at a point in our relationship where it's like, 'Oh, do you remember...' and you realize, 'Oh my God, that was eight years ago!'" The relationship still feels new to him. And that, he says, is also the "key to happiness, that it feels just as exciting and new and happy" as it did in the beginning.
Their shared passion certainly helps, too. He recorded a new duet with his wife, whom he married in 2021, for his current album. It even turned out to be two songs, but only one track made it onto the album. "We were both so excited about both of them that we kept one of them for the next project," he announces. Their joint song, "Hangin' On," was "definitely a challenge," but he and Stefani "love to challenge ourselves as singers."
He says of the creative process: "We live together, so we walk around the house singing these songs all the time, and we have months to talk about them." When they get to the recording studio, they're very well prepared.
He is already looking forward to summerBut when it comes to writing song lyrics, they're very different. "Gwen is much more picky when it comes to lyrics. I've never been as picky as she is. For her, it's really important to see herself in the lyrics she's singing, unlike me. I've sung about going to jail, and there was never a debate about it," jokes the 48-year-old.
Work on the current record is finished after the promotional tour. Then a quiet summer awaits with Gwen Stefani and her sons Kingston (18), Zuma (16), and Apollo (11) from her first marriage to Gavin Rossdale (59): "I'm excited for the kids to be out of school. Gwen and I have pretty much everything we want in the summer. We both have a few gigs here and there, but nothing that stops us from doing something fun," he reveals. "We don't have any plans, which is our favorite plan."
