SPD sorts out its personnel table in health policy

Berlin. The SPD parliamentary group is sending MPs Tanja Machelet, Serdar Yüksel, Stefan Schwartze, Matthias Mieves, Claudia Moll, and Dr. Christos Pantazis to the Bundestag's Health Committee. This was announced in party circles on Monday.

Yüksel, a nurse, was elected to the Bundestag for the first time in the federal election in February. Schwartze, Mieves, Moll, and the Braunschweig physician Pantazis had already been active in health policy during the previous legislative period. Moll held the office of the Federal Government's Nursing Commissioner, Schwartze was the Patient Representative. Economist Machelet previously served on the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs.

It is still unclear who will take over the position of health policy spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group. The CDU/CSU parliamentary group has not yet decided on this either. On Monday, MPs Anne Janssen and Simone Borchardt were considered for the position. This Tuesday, the CDU/CSU parliamentary group plans to clarify who it will entrust with this task.

Speaker positions still open

Until now, CDU MP Tino Sorge served as the health policy spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. He is now Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health. The CDU and CSU will then decide which members of their parliamentary group will be members of the Health Committee later this week.

This Thursday (May 15), the new minister, Nina Warken (CDU), will present her plans in the plenary session of the Bundestag. Beforehand, the Bundestag will establish the parliamentary committees. (bwa)
