I found the infrastructure in Germany to be brilliant. I've already cycled through countries like Russia, India, and Australia. There's no infrastructure for cyclists there at all, and it's sometimes life-threatening. Germany has a good 75,000 kilometers of long-distance cycle paths, so you can cycle across the entire country without ever having to cross a busy road. Only a few countries offer that luxury. Of course, the Netherlands and Denmark are well ahead of us in terms of infrastructure.

Nevertheless, I consider Germany to be one of the top five countries in the world when it comes to cycling infrastructure. But especially in the big cities, traffic is still geared toward car drivers. Danes and the Dutch use bicycles much more than we do, even though the weather isn't necessarily better than ours. People are comfortable and will always use what is fastest, safest, and cheapest for them. If we manage to make our cities more bicycle-friendly, more people will automatically use bicycles in their everyday lives.
