At dizzying speed, Trump has announced new tariffs , retracted them, set deadlines, and then shortened them again, initiated negotiations, reached preliminary deals, then demanded something else, and then rescinded them again. The latest twist: Starting Wednesday, June 4, at midnight US Eastern Time, surcharges of 50 percent will be imposed on steel and aluminum imports, double the current level.
