Trade war: Mexico is caught in a tariff trap between China and the USA

Reading time: 5 min.
|In the trade war between China and the United States, Mexico is increasingly caught between the fronts. The country is economically dependent on both countries—and a prime example of the disastrous effects of Donald Trump's tariff policy.

What Donald J. Trump writes here about his Mexican colleague isn't exactly nice. She's "so scared (...) that she can't even think straight." Of course, the US President posts statements like this quite often. But this one about Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is special – because it describes reality quite accurately. And that, in turn, is rather unusual for Trump, especially when it comes to tariff policy. But, honestly: Who isn't at least a little bit afraid of Trump's tariffs right now, given how far they will drag the global economy down?
