Press release: 'Stuttgarter Zeitung' on the end of the Bundesliga transfer period

STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - "Stuttgarter Zeitung" at the end of the transfer period in the Bundesliga:
"English clubs have transferred a total of more than €700 million to Bundesliga clubs this summer. Alongside Florian Wirtz and Nick Woltemade, stars like Hugo Ekitiké (from Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool FC for €95 million) and Xavi Simons (from RB Leipzig to Tottenham Hotspur for €65 million) flew to the UK. The Bundesliga is becoming a supplier – and is worried: The quality and competitiveness of the Bundesliga will suffer if the top stars go to the rich clubs in England. How is the Bundesliga supposed to score points in this situation? The appeal of still having a vibrant fan culture here, whereas in the Premier League, only a mere operetta audience takes its seats in the stadiums, will eventually lose its appeal if the events of this transfer summer solidify. Then the glorious German first division threatens to degenerate into a sell-out league. If the best players always go to England, the Bundesliga faces a massive loss of appeal – which will probably also affect the numerous traditional clubs at some point. including the great atmosphere in the stadiums, not much will change."/DP/jha
