Infrastructure renovation: Deutsche Bahn plans many more total closures

|Starting in 2028, Deutsche Bahn plans to close dozens of additional routes, some for months at a time. This also means that the tough times for passengers are yet to come.
Like fine veins, the railway lines crisscross the map of the Federal Republic of Germany. A sprawling network, 33,400 kilometers of track. The problem: Many of them are showing their age, neglected and ruined by cost-cutting by railway managers and transport ministers, and are now so dilapidated that they need to be replaced.
