Reading time: 5 min.
|Cruises are booming, but the ships often pose a burden on nature and the people living in coastal regions. There are significant differences between individual cruise lines.
These days, awards are being presented, deals are being made, and the state of the industry is being discussed. The cruise industry is meeting at Seatrade Europe in Hamburg. The more than 250 exhibiting companies and approximately 3,500 participants from 90 countries are hardly lacking in topics in times of the cruise boom – and with the publication of the environmental ranking on Thursday afternoon, the German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) is likely to provide additional material for discussion. The environmentalists' initial conclusion: There has been some improvement, especially among smaller providers, but the entire industry must do more to protect the climate.
