Iran: At least 25 dead after explosion in Shahid Rajei port

Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni said reinforcements had been dispatched from Tehran and several other cities to assist in the firefighting efforts. Authorities also ordered the closure of all schools and offices on Sunday in Bandar Abbas, a city of about 650,000 residents.

Three days of mourning declared

In light of the high number of injured, authorities in Hormozgan province called for blood donations. Three days of mourning were also declared in the province, whose capital is Bandar Abbas and where Iran's most important naval base is located.

President Peseschkian expressed his condolences to the victims and their families. He dispatched Interior Minister Momeni to the scene of the accident. Momeni said on state television on Sunday that container loading at the port had resumed.
